Since 1995, PARO has provided assistance to thousands of women, through innovative business services, peer support and inspirational events. Many have successfully launched for profit businesses and others are creating collaborative workspaces or social enterprises to enhance their community.


PARO invites applications for the following position:


Executive and Human Resources Assistant

You will be responsible for providing outstanding, high-level administrative and clerical support to a busy Executive Director and Management Team and assist with communications with our Board of Directors. A superior communicator with excellent written and verbal skills, you uphold and maintain a strict level of confidentiality in all aspects of your work. Strong organizational skills and key attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities.


Responsibilities: include but are not limited to:

Assisting with the coordination and maintenance of schedules and appointments. Assist with the preparation of business presentations and/or reports, create and/or edit documents such as reports, proposals, memos, and letters. Perform general clerical duties including but not limited to recording and distributing meeting minutes, copying, faxing, mailing, filing. Assists the Executive Director and Finance Manager to ensure smooth operation of all financial matters.


Position Requires:

Candidates will have 3-5 years experience in a related position and current knowledge and experience with Microsoft suite of products. A valid driver’s license and personal vehicle insurance. Experience with electronic accounting/bookkeeping software would be an asset. A degree or diploma in business or administration is preferred. We are looking for a team player with superior customer service skills. The ability to speak and write in French, and/or Ojibwe or Oji-Cree, and experience working with Francophone and First Nations communities; knowledge of women’s issues, microfinance, and community economic development are definite assets.


Working from Thunder Bay, Ontario, and you may be required to travel.
