Business Counsellor – Based in Northern Ontario

Salary:  $48,435/year

The Business Counsellor position – is based anywhere in Northern Ontario – reporting to Head Office located in Thunder Bay – this position is responsible for delivering comprehensive, enhanced business coaching/counselling, training, and mentoring programs designed for growth-oriented Women’s Companies to increase productivity, innovation, and profitability and to Access Export Markets. This initiative will focus on 3 Pillars; 1- Growing Women’s Companies; 2 – Assessing Growth Opportunities; and 3 – Expanding Access to Export Markets. Through PARO’s vision for enhanced economic security and growth for women entrepreneurs, this position provides you with an exciting opportunity to be a part of a vibrant community of women.

Qualifications and Skills

With Post Secondary Education in Business Administration, Accounting and/or Education, or a related field, you have proven experience with business planning and operations, group training and facilitation, coaching/counseling, mentoring and related business experience. Knowledge of women’s issues, microfinance and community economic development are definite assets. You are a team player, positive and self-motivated.

POSITION REQUIRES:

Regular travel (when permitted re: Covid 19) to communities in Northern Ontario; a valid driver’s license, personal vehicle and vehicle insurance; excellent interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills; written and oral communication skills; excellent analytical skills; and an ability to accommodate competing demands and meet deadlines. Must be fluent in English. French and/or Ojibway or Oji-Cree would be an asset. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Project Coordinator EIW (Enterprising Indigenous Women) – Based in Northern Ontario

Salary: $66,450/year

Job description

The Enterprising Indigenous Women’s project will support Indigenous women in rural, remote, Northern communities and First Nations to start and scale-up their businesses. PARO will provide holistic business and entrepreneurship training, access to mentorship and networking, peer learning and support, and connections to affordable business financing options to facilitate business start and/or scale-up in growth sectors such as mining, forestry, transportation, and power. Through partnership development with existing organizations, PARO will work to support Indigenous women entrepreneurs to capitalize on opportunities associated with major economic developments, including The Ring of Fire and Wayaynikaneyap (Watay).

This is a hands-on, roll up the sleeves, action oriented job that assumes the person is passionate and has the expertise and experience to immediately enter the framework, understand its challenges and opportunities, supporting and helping Indigenous women’s businesses. It is expected that this position will collaborate with our other team members to ensure that we are taking an integrated, holistic approach to improving women’s economic security and prosperity while working to strengthen the women’s movement. Positon Outline

Indigenous Women’s Business Counsellor will work with the Program Manager to implement, develop and deliver a comprehensive, enhanced business coaching/counselling, training, and mentoring program designed to increase productivity, innovation, and profitability for women entrepreneurs living in rural, remote, Northern communities and First Nations in Northern Ontario. Establish and build strategic partnerships and collaborative networks with communities and other agencies to deliver programming and ensure project success and sustainability.

Qualifications and Skills

With Post Secondary Education in Indigenous studies, Business Administration, Accounting and/or Education, or a related field, you have proven experience with business planning and operations, group training and facilitation, coaching/counselling, mentoring and related business experience. Experience connecting and working with First Nation communities; knowledge of women’s issues, reconciliatory economics and approaches to business development, microfinance and community economic development are definite assets. You are a team player, positive and self-motivated, fluent in English and the ability to speak and write in Ojibwe or Oji-Cree would be a definite asset.

Project Coordinator (Northern Ontario)

Salary: $4,775.60/month

Job description

The Project Coordinator – Northern, will be responsible for the program coordinator of the PAROBiz, a women’s business development and microloan program. The Project Coordinators are responsible for the delivery of Business Training, Financial and Counselling services, reporting and other duties as part of the project plan including any administrative duties as required by the Chief Executive Officer.

Responsibilities and Duties:

We are hiring for a full-time temporary Project Coordinator to cover a leave of absence.

POSITION REQUIRES: that you hold a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle insurance; be comfortable as a supervisor/coordinator, facilitator/presenter, and counsellor/coach; have excellent communication and analytical skills; and an ability to accommodate competing demands while meeting deadlines.

WORKING AREA: Working from Northern Ontario, you must be willing to travel.

Business Growth Advisor

Location:  Anywhere in Ontario

SALARY

Contract position for 3.5 days (equivalent to 56 hours) per month. $250/day (the equivalent of an 8-hour day) and $125 for a one-day equivalent for planning, reporting, and follow-up ($875/month). For planned and approved travel, mileage, accommodation, and meals will also be covered using PARO set rates.   Time at PARO meetings can be charged at an equivalent hourly rate over and above 3.5 days.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a contracted business providing services to PARO, you will provide services as a Business Growth Advisor to women living in Northern, Eastern and Southern Ontario.   Your business, representing PARO, will assist other women to start, sustain, and scale up their businesses using various technologies such as telephone, email, Zoom, CRMs, Learning Management Systems, BaseCamp, and other communication software and supports, travel, and in-person meetings when required (as permitted per Covid 19). Your business services to women will include providing holistic entrepreneurial counselling and webinars; development and support for PARO Circles; development, delivery, and support to BIZCamps and small networking events; connecting women to affordable business financing options within PARO and those researched from outside PARO; and reporting statistics, connecting on BASECAMP, and invoicing monthly to receive payment from PARO.  You will build positive relationships and communicate with strategic partners and other agencies to support getting new referrals and providing services to women entrepreneurs to ensure the success and sustainability of their businesses.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

You have experience operating a successful business and managing the efficient use of time.  You have facilitation/coordination skills, financial acumen, business development, and reporting skills. You are a team player, but can work independently; self-motivated, and flexible, Post-Secondary Education in Business Administration, Accounting and/or Education, or a related field.  You have proven experience with business planning and operations, group training and facilitation, coaching/counselling, mentoring, and related business experience.  Experience reaching out to clients and building good customer relations; knowledge of women’s issues, and innovative approaches to business development, microfinance, and community economic development are definite assets.  You are a team player, positive and self-motivated, and fluent in English, but the ability to speak and write in French, Ojibwe or Oji-Cree would be an asset.
